Company History

The COMPUTERLINKS name may appear to be new, but the company has been trading in the UK and Ireland since 2000, having bought Unipalm. Whilst the Unipalm name may now be gone, COMPUTERLINKS has inherited a long and distinguished history:

2008
COMPUTERLINKS Group Acquired by Barclays Private Equity.

2007
FusionDistribution FZC a Dubai based company is acquired by COMPUTERLINKS AG
Farewood sells all its shares in COMPUTERLINKS AG
COMPUTERLINKS UK opens up 5 U.K. offices and establishes a national 4 hour RMA service.

2005
Acquisition of Scandinavian Securesoft Group by COMPUTERLINKS AG
COMPUTERLINKS U.S. office established.

2003
Building on the success of COMPUTERLINKS Germany's training division, Unipalm created COMPUTERLINKS Training UK providing the highest quality training courses and certification to complement Unipalm's portfolio of best-of-breed Internet solutions. In addition, Unipalm launched SafeAnet, a managed service for home workers and small businesses.

2002
Unipalm received ISO9001 recognition - for the 'Provision of Software Distribution and Related Service'. The BS EN ISO 9001: 2000 quality certification specifically addresses quality issues within the operations, sales and product management departments and also encompasses training, technical support and resource management.

2001
Unipalm expanded its presence in Ireland, appointing local sales and technical staff and establishing offices in Dublin. Check Point acknowledged Unipalm's commitment to the Irish market by appointing us a distributor for Ireland, previously not part of our distribution agreement. This, and other such agreements, enabled Unipalm to offer a comprehensive portfolio to the Irish channel.

2000
COMPUTERLINKS, a public company trading at the time on the German Neuer Markt acquired 100% of the shares of Unipalm. Simultaneously, COMPUTERLINKS also acquired 100% of the shares of Alpha Media of France (which began trading as COMPUTERLINKS). Whilst Unipalm offers customers many benefits as a result of a pan-European group, we also still maintain a high level of independence.

1996
A Management Buy Out re-established Unipalm as a separate company, moving location to Newmarket and allowing complete focus on IP software and services.

1995
Unipalm taken over by UUNET.
1994
Unipalm floated on the London stock exchange.
1991
Unipalm's software trading business provided the foundations for UUNET PIPEX, the first commercial ISP in the UK.

1986
Unipalm was founded, pioneering the commercialisation of IP technology in the UK, becoming the first supplier of TCP/IP, NFS, X-Windows and Web software technology in the UK.
